Pepsi 300 in Nashville

Since the Nextel Cup series is off this weekend maybe its time to take a look at the Busch Series. This weekend they will be the Pepsi 300 from Nashville Speedway. Reed Sorensen won the race last year. This year I'm hoping Kenny Wallace who finished second in both races at Nashville last year can pull off his first win in a few years and take home a guitar as a trophy. He faces stiff opposition however as several Cup regulars will be attempting the race this weekend.

The current Busch Series standings are:
Rank Driver Behind
1. -- Kevin Harvick Leader
2. +1 Denny Hamlin -146
3. +1 Clint Bowyer -199
4. -2 J.J. Yeley -231
5. +6 Greg Biffle -250
6. +8 Kyle Busch -267
7. -1 Johnny Sauter -267
8. +5 Paul Menard -280
9. -- Jason Leffler -281
10. -- Jamie McMurray -283

All but two of the drivers in the top-10 are also Cup regulars. Personally I'd like to see some type of limit on their involvement in the Busch series. Mostly because the smaller independent teams are having a lot of problems being competitive with the large influx of Cup teams and drivers.

They will be less cup drivers in it this week? because they dont need to practice for the cup race?
I hope so.

Does anyone know what position Erin Crocker qualified in? its not on Nascars web site
Thanks
Jeff

Yet to watch the race, will do during the week.

on the Cup drivers in Busch thing, It has it's pro's and con's IMO

PRO:
More spectators, coming out to see their Cup Heros, for a smaller ticket price than a Cup race. Going by the amount of spectators I see in the stands, Busch NEEDS the Cup guys there.

Ups the level of competition, and Non-Cup drivers know what they are up against when they move up to Cup

CONS
Less drives in good teams for promising up-and-comers (On that not it's good to see Kevin Harvick's team with Burney Lamar, he's looking pretty good)

More distance between the Haves and the Have not's, with Cup teams in there.

I'm sure there is more...I just don't know them

So I'm a bit split on the issue

I think a lot of the "Buschwacker" stuff is related to the sponsors. Most sponsors any more want to be connected to the Cup drivers and not smaller Busch teams. I still think beyond that it's a problem. I always kind of wondered why if NASCAR wants to help competition so much they don't start a sponsorship bureau that helps connect smaller or struggling teams with sponsors.

I haven't watched all the NASCAR races this year so I won't know this for sure but I take it Harvick is doing all the Cup and Busch rounds?

Harvick is running both series. As is JJ Yeley, Denny Hamlin, and Reed Sorenson I think.

A.J. Foyt IV also lost his ride. The team he was driving for switched to Chevy and he is contracted to Everham Motorsports. Not sure where he will end up, he hasn't had too good of a run so far in stock cars. Maybe he will go back to his grandfathers team in the IRL.

That's good to hear Reed Sorenson is doing the Cup season, he was pretty impressive last year in the Busch series.

As for Foyt. Maybe AJ Foyt will field another car in the IRL or for his son at Indy as Giaffone is currently driving for AJ and Giaffone is a good driver.
I'm not suprised AJ Foyt IV lost his Busch ride, he hardly set the world a light.
