D-Type should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Crystal Palace 5 July 1958 - Lotus Elite

the 5th july 1958 was a very special day for me. At the age of 11 my parents letmego to the meeting on my own. Searching the net I have found that the main race was the Formula 2 Anerley Trophy won by Syd Jensen (Cooper) from Ivor Bueb (Lotus) and Jim Russel (Cooper). The main supporting race was for sports cars won by Ivor Bueb (Lister) from Bruce Halford (Lister) and Graham Whitehead (Aston Martin).

There was also a race for GT cars won by a Lotus Elite from a couple of Elva Couriers and a touring car race featuring at least two 3.4 Jaguars and John Sprinzel's Austin A 35. Does anybody have any details of the latter two races? Were there any other races that day?.

Happy to oblige - I've got the programme!

The small sports car entry list was as follows:-

BRSCC Norbury Trophy

RA Jameson 60 Berkeley T60
Jon Goddard-Watts 61 Berkeley
NW Graham 62 Berkeley
Austen Nurse 63 Turner
BAM Gilbert 64 Turner
JP Baldam 65 Turner
Ian Walker 66 Lotus Elite
John Lawry 67 Lotus Elite
J Hayles 68 MG A
David Dixon 69 MG A
Ken MacKenzie 70 MG A
DA Wilcocks 71 MG A
Peter Gammon 73 Elva Courier
JAP Trafford 91 MG A

I wonder who the late entry in the second Elva was?

Its obviously my fallible memory: 2 Elites and 1 Elva not 1 Elite and 2 Elvas.
