Superspeedway

This is a unique super speedway, the oval is long, its 3.5 miles long with Five turns. You have to lift off the Throttle and possibly shift down gear for Turns 1 and 2. Turns 3, 4 and Five are flat out, IRL cars reaching around 230 Mph here. The road course is long to, with fast corners, sweeps and Slower corners.

It's a big oval then, I must admitt. I'm not really too sure about the road course though.

3.5 miles! The longest oval that is reguarly used at the moment is Talladega at 2.66 miles & that's quite long enough! I agree with V8 in so far as with the amount of space that a 3.5 mile oval would give you you could have done sooooooooo much more with the space for the road course. Sorry, but it's my opinion........

Plus with an oval that big the IRL cars wouldn't have to slow down much through 1 & 2, certainly not having to break. I think that average lap speed would be around 230 mph, if not slightly more. It would certainly break all closed circuit records.

The road course should work well even with the oval being a bit smaller.
I'd prefer the road-course in anti-clockwise direction, in which I think it flows nicely. I'd like to add an S-curve at the end of the road-course in Turn 5, and maybe have the start-finish straight of the road course on the grid section of the oval, beside the pits, so there is some run-off in Turn 1 (or is it Turn 2?).
I hope you like my suggestions.

I quite like the road course actually. If you tried to squeeze much more in the infield, it would just look rather mickey mouse, even if in reality it wouldn't be quite so bad.

Turns 1 and 2 on the oval would be quite slow. The ytake, by my estimate, a half-mile to go the about 180 degrees, roughly the same as the turns at Indy. However, these turns are not separted by a short chute, and while Turn 1 is rather loose, Turn 2 is quite acute, and so speeds would have to come down significantly to negotiate it. If you keep the banking down at like 10-15 degrees, even IRL cars shouldn't go any faster here, in average lap speed, than they do at even Indy. Remember, Daytona has 31 degree banked turns and Talladega's are 33 degrees, not to mention the 18 degree banked tri-ovals at both.
