Davhut should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
ELDEN MK 16 FAtl.

Attached is a photo of the Elden Formula Atlantic Mk 16 (I believe! ) as raced in 1974 by Gordon Smiley.
It appears he's being tailed by maybe Dave Morgan in perhaps a Surtees?
More information as his historical archive is further digested.

I think thats Peter Wardle's Surtees TS15 behind the Elden. I presume Brands in 1974?

Tony Brise was rumoured to be out in an F2 Elden early that year, anyone know why it didn't happen, money I guess? Was this car, the Smiley FAt, the one Brise was due to race in F2, or did they build more than 1 F2/FAt chassis.

I think I uncovered some build pix of this car and will post later. Maybe there's a chassis plate in them, Gordon was pretty good at detail photos. I do recall this particular chassis having a large fuel capacity, so maybe your speculation is correct.

Hello, I'm a new member to this site and while browsing I came across this thread. I was wondering if you still have those photos by chance I remember seeing the elden prh 16 at a few events in the early 80's. It would be intresting to see if it was actuallly the same car.

Elden prh 16

I am currently restoring the elden prh16. I was wondering if anyone has any photos of the car. Also, I understand that Gordon Smiley dnf due to an accident in 1974. I know its a long shot but I was hoping that maybe someone out there knows what happened. One last question, Did Tony Brise race the car and if so where? I under stand that the car was built for him but I'm having a hard time finding any info.

The car is in the Chicago area. My father purchased it in the early 80's in pieces. Twenty-some years later it's getting put together. Elden I understand no longer exsist. Does anyone know if any of the factory documents are still availible. I would love to have a copy of at least the spec/setup sheet.

Thanks

I think I have some pictures of the accident happening! They are in an issue of Autosprint, the Italian magazine, and there's a sequence of Smiley losing it on his own at Paddock. I'll double check when I get home on Friday and scan them if it's true

I don't think Brise ever raced this car

PM Davhut, he is very generous with his support. He can probably repost the pics or e-mail them directly to you.
