Car Drawings.
Chevy Lacetti WTCC.
Here's a drawing I did in class a couple of days ago, done in about 15 min. It's meant to be out of proportion, and I know there's a couple of errors (mainly in the rear wing endplate, and the LG logo's on the windscreen banner) Thanks for viewing, feedback is wanted. Feel free to post your drawings in here too! |

You mention that its suppose to be out of proportion...so are you aiming for a cartoon style drawing like this one (link)
If so, (and I apologise if thats not the case) then everyone can develop their own style. I had to match someone elses style for the Pug as it was a 'late addition' to a BTCC programme. I'll be honest, I don't like this style, but it pays the bills (ha, I wish ) and it does appear to be popular. So, a few points for starters. Don't make the windows too tall and the windscreen upright, I assume you want to make it look dynamic, so notice the angle of the Lacetti windscreen and side windows. Also look at the disctinctie elements of the car. The Lacetti is very bland, but the WTCC has some interesting fenders, which you have and the air intakes and grille at the front, wheels (which are normally oversized), the angle of the window line perhaps, the big splitter and the chevrolet identity, the grille. With a racecar, adding colour will really help, although I know its just a quick sketch. Your view is great. A low down view will always make perspective easier. If you want to develop this a little more, then there are a few car design websites out there which have a few tutorials etc. Hope this helps a little. |

It's not really in 'koolart' style, but I am trying to get into that as well. It's more of a "Kuru Kuru" style, from what most of my best pixelcars are in, and example of the KuruKuru style can be seen at shin.bit.ac
The reason I usually dont colour my drawings, is because I have too many strokes from the pen, and a personal thing, I just really dont like colour, lol. Not sure why, but I may experiment with it. Thanks for the fedback andy_b, that 206 looks awesome! Also, what did you mean my 'dynamic?' Last edited by Matt; 22 Jan 2007 at 15:09. |

dynamic - i.e: it looks fast even when standing still. A tall car will look more like a people mover than a racecar

Yeah, If I can get one at a more sharper angle to the front, like the angle of the Lacetti, it would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for double post(Curse you 10 min edit rule, lol), but I think I'll try the Clio in Koolart style as well, I just think it would look a bit better.
