Super Coupe Cup
Has anyone got any goss about the Super Coupe Cup ? In past years numbers have been quite low. What are the numbers like this year ? Do they still run in one race with a delayed start for certain classes or do they run in two races ?
I read in Autosport that a certain Russ Humphrey is driving a Vectra is this the same Russ Humphrey of Castle Combe saloon fame ? Is there a website for the championship ? |

Yes it is , I think We saw a couple of Super Coupes testing this morning, and they look good. I enjoy the series, all the fun of a one make series, with different makes! They use rolling starts don't they? |

They've had to be running 2 races this year, numbers aren't low due to the introduction of new defunct series ...
Cars include: Renault 5 Turbos Honda CRX's Polo G40's - a rare road going car these days, but awesome Vauxhall Vectas Rover Tomcats Protons Renualt Clios - perhaps?? Used to have rolling starts, because some of the cars had a distinct 0-60 advantage.. Should be very good this weekend.. |

I don't remeber the Super Coupe cup beign anything but exciting over the years, particularly when Dan and I had the pleasure of seeing Rick Pearson do a double somersault with twist going into old Paddock. It looks like a really good meeting, I just hope the weather holds up.
And isn't the other reason for a rolling start that Renult 5 Turbos have this propensity for catching fire if they're stationary for too long? Last edited by Marshal; 4 May 2001 at 08:50. |

At first round held at Brands Hatch.
Race 1: Vectra, Rover Tomcat (220), VW Vento. On damp track, Vectras took top five positions. Brian Thorp took the win ahead of Jason Hughes and Russ Humphrey (of Combe fame, of course). The only Vento, driven by Mark Smith came in fifth, ahead of top Tomcat of Dennis Bunning. Race 2: Honda CRX, Clio, Rover 216, Ren 5, Proton. Bunning won the second race, this time driving a Honda CRX, ahead of Steven Meil (Clio), and Robb Addison Snr (Rover 216GTi). Tony Rivers was first Ren 5, Nick Howell was first Proton. Hope this helps. |
