Caparo T1?
Would this car not be an awesome future for sportscar racing?
It's been part designed by Gordon Murray and houses an Indy Car engine (rebadged). Ok, so it could never be legal in GT1. Or could it? What are the chances? Just a wistful thought... Does have a passenger seat
It's behind and off to the left. Doesn't matter, it's still awesome. Power to weight is something like twice as good as a LMP900 R8. |

Cars similar to this are already racing globally. It's called single-seater racing. Sportscar racing needs to be different.

The thing really IS a twoseater. I reckon it'll emberrase quite some sportscars' set fastest laps when let loose on the international trackday scene.
By the way,it incorporates a lot of LMP technology. |

It was designed to be a road legal F1 car, so there are no plans, or intentions from the manufacture to have it raced in any series other than a possible spec series for the car.

Alright, sorry, no innovation then.
Back to yet another DB9 or MC12 generic. |

haha maybe not GT1.
But it looks like a Hot Wheels car, and the world needs more like that, not just another long bonnet. |

it's not the most attractive car, but it's a cool idea. i don't think it'll ever be seen outside of a single-marque series, as it doesn't fit the rules for any categories. but it would be fun to see what it would do. it's sort of an ultimate version of a radical or westfield, i guess...

But it's terribly ugly... |

It doesn't have a continous bodywork. A lightweight special. Maybe in the similar league as Caterham CSR & Westfield Sport S & Lotus 2 Eleven & Ariel Atom & KTM X-Bow etc.? Special class.

this was my degree car back in 1995
a little bit of blurb from a magazine about it http://www.andyblackmoredesign.com/i...re_CarWeek.jpg it was road legal and model should have had a wing, but didn't (as it looked crap) |

The problem is that it looks like an F1 car that someone has bolted some mudguards to.....interesting enough and certainly quick (although i don't think they hold together for long atm) but not the future of GT racing imo....

In reality the car is little more than an LMP2 with different bodywork. Despite the regular lengthy Caparo press releases it's pretty easy to see that they've taken a racecar design and road-registered it.
I don't doubt it'll be an absolutely amazing track day toy, but as an engineering achievement it really doesn't touch the Veyron or the McLaren F1 (which its designers worked on). |
