It looks like the work is going to start in Nov - with circuit being closed through Dec and Jan - lets hope we get a dry winter so not delayed.

Im not sure that fees will rise too much what with it being part of MSV... Yeah some parts were a bit "cracky" particularly at the Bomb Hole, nearly lost it a few times there going flat out over the bumps! Cant wait till its finished though, I really hope we race there next year, I wonder whether we can still take the new Coram flat...?! |

Plans are to cover up all the old remaining concreate runway sections - Sear a good example - lets hope they also fill in the potholes on the roadway us spectators use around the circuit

Will anyone from here be able to have regular access over the Christmas holidays to provide photos/updates? I think this is one of the quickest rebuild/reprofile projects in UK circuit history, around 50% new track in just three months?

and it is showing "Track Closed To Public" I assume as this is now a building site and all the health and safety stuff they have to adhere to it looks like closed doors - maybe we all a need hard hats, safety shoes etc etc etc to get in |

Called at the circuit last Friday - big stack of old tyres in the paddock - keeping a few people busy binding them together for the new circuit safety barriers - Old Snett R.I.P. - long live Snett 100, 200, & 300

I was told yesterday by someone that is hiring the circuit early next year that work was scheduled to start today.

Its nice and quiet here today so hopefully work is starting - although final planning permission is not scheduled until next week I believe. At least the a couple of months quiet will please the anti Snett brigade - can't complain about noise for a while !!

No, they'll complain about the tarmac laying machines or something instead

I had a look at the plans and found them a bit depressing - what I love is fast sweeping corners and I was quite fond of the "old" snetterton.
The additional track just seems to add lots of low/medium speed stuff and reminded me of the infield at Rockingham - which IMHO is awful |

I have only done a handful of sighting laps but Corum was one corner I really loved. It will be interesting to see what happens with that bend. On the image or map they produced it looks pretty much a different corner but I am hoping that in reality its more like 2 separate corners if that makes any sense.

Riches is still there. Good.
Will miss Sears, as it was a very tricky corner to get right, even though it looks easy. There is a sweeper or two in the infield section, so who knows how much fun that'll be. Too many 'hairpins' for my liking, but probably good overtaking areas. Coram could be really good if it's a much longer corner on a similar radius (or slightly tighter), and leading into what looks like a much quicker Russells will be fun, but will ruin it for spectators. The old Russell was always a place to consider overtaking (although virtually impossible to actually pull off a safe move in an F3 car against cars of similar speed), and accidents. I'm sure the accidents will remain, but I doubt there will be an increase in overtaking. I'll sit on the fence until I drive it in March. With any luck I might hold the outright lap record for an hour or two (depending on what meetings occur earlier in the year). |

The crazy thing about these Snetterton re-developments is the fact that there will still be no spectator seating at the circuit. You have to go back to the 90`s when the one and only grandstand at the circuit was removed and since then there has been nothing, all that is proposed is grass banks on the new infield area as well as the one at the bomb hole for people to view the action.I think MSV just want to cater for whats on track and has little interest in making the spectators comfortable to view their sport.Do MSV really think they will get a lot of spectator interest at events such as the proposed DTM meetings with no seating/cover?,come on get some SEATING sorted there!

Nonsense! Who needs seating?? They stick a grandstand up at Russell for the Touring Cars, but only Silverstone really has seating. Brands has 1 grandstand at Paddock, Donington has one opposite the pits, Cadwell has a wooden one at the top of the mountain and thats it! Seating is not an issue.

The new banking should be a big advantage - you can lay down on the grass in the sun while watching the racing !!! - lets hope the new banks give some shelter from the wind only problem then is shelter from the rain.
Had a look at the photos on Facebook - appears JP is keeping to his word in removing all the remianing WW II concrete runways |

Brands also has a 'temporary' grandstand on the startline that has remained there for a few years. |
