Russell White

On Saturday, Russell White died after crashing at turn 1, I believe, of Oran Park during qualifying for the Australian Sidecar Championship. He was the passenger of the bike, and from what I've heard his bike came into contact with another bike which had slowed. The rider was treated at the scene, but I don't know the extent of the injuries.

Another sad day for motorracing...

I heard the rider had suffered some kind of broken bone injuries but is not that serious.

RIP Russell White.

RIP Mate...

I rated Russell as one of my greatest ever friends, so having just joined the forum would like to clear this up.

If you need to please see "http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/def...ide-2001-08-20" for the horrid details, it will forever send a shiver up my spine reading it. What it doesn't say is there were 2 classes of sidecar on the track that day that should never have been mixed - details escape me now but his class was greatly outpaced by the other.

If I could call it lucky - though I will always wonder if history may have been different if I did go - I couldn't make it that day, he nagged me for weeks to go....

He was a very keen motorcyclist and a truly great bloke. He worked as a fitter at RAAF Richmond, lived in that area (about 5km from where I still live - it still hurts driving past) and would do anything he could for anybody.

My own father aside, his was the biggest loss I have ever suffered. I still rate his partner as a great mate and one I will never lose touch with, she too was and still is a very keen motorcyclist and I am sure she wouldn't mind me saying a great bloke as well.

RIP in biker heaven Russ, you will never be forgotten by those lucky enough to have known you.
