For the record, Waltrip ranks 15th in the points standing which is in the top 3rd of all drivers.

15th place - Michael Waltrip :1 Win, 4 Top fives, 9 top tens.

Let’s see . . . . .
Fukyamama Hideo did NOT earn a spot in a Winston Cup race !!!
THERE ARE MANY MORE QUALIFIED DRIVERS AVAILABLE.
Hideo was in the race because Nascar wanted him there.
My point is that Nascar will overlook the obvious to get what they want !!!
Nascar wants to appeal to more fans and make more money.
It is all about marketing on an international scale.
My point is clear :
Nascar wants some drivers to be women, people of color, and different nationalities.
Nascar wants to broaden it’s appeal and go after the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
I am NOT being a racist here.
I am pointing out that it is Nascar’s greed in action.

Have a nice day.

Hideo isnt the first or last driver to be in NASCAR on money instead of ability. You live in a dream world if you think thats the 43 best drivers in the world

I would never claim that Nascar drivers are the best in the world.
Most of them are very talented.
It does appear to me that the car and the crew are major factors too.

I agree with Stan, it was a dog & pony show for Nascar...same thing with moving Shawna Robinson up to cup with no Busch experience & little Arca experience. There are a lot of women out there with more talent than Shawna.

Mikey also won the Winston, which was at Charlotte of course, which isn't a DEI dominated restrictor plate track.

I thought he won the Winston Open or something.

At any rate there is a lot of dead weight in NASCAR and a lot of guys at decent teams because of sponsorship

He may have won the open to get into the Winston that year, but he did win the Winston in 1996.

It looks like Fukuyama is going to race again. When will it happen ?

By the way, do you know what happen to the other Nascar alien - Fittipaldi in the Busch race? I know he was out on lap one !?

Fukuyama will try to make the field for the Martinsville and North Carolina Speedway (Rockingham) races.

I was at the Busch race at Kansas a couple of days ago and Christian Fittipaldi spun in the middle of turn 3 and 4 and backed it into the wall, ending his day. Just in case you wondered, nobody touched him or was near him. He simply lost the car.

Michael Waltip did win The Winston in 1996 at Charlotte. In his Citgo car, he passed Dale Earnhardt Sr. on the last lap for the win. Since he did not win a race in 1995 (or any other year before this), he also had to have won the Winston Open in order to make The Winston race. I do seem to remember this being the case.

My memory of the 1996 Winston is kind of "foggy" .....
I'm sure that Michael did come from the Open, I keep thinking that the top 5 finishers advanced to the Winston at that time, for some reason I keep thinking that Michael finished 5th in the Open getting the last transfer spot.

YOU KNOW THERE ARE SOME "PEOPLE" IN THERE RIGHT NOW THAT DON'T DESERVE TO BE, VEVEN THOUGH THAY HAVE SOME EXPERIENCE!!!!!
