Great stuff - I particularly like the one with the flag in the fg. It helps tell the story.

5 and 7 are the stand-out captures for me.. Very nice.. I'd hazard a guess that McKlein would have been happy with those two.. and they have high standards.. All credit to you..

My only comment is that there is too much noise/grain/texture in the images and you ought to learn to deal with.. It will be exacerbated by your sharpening..

Regards..
Dave

They are a bit grainy/noisy - but then he is shooting in very low light and still managing to get the cars sharp. It'd be tough not to get noise. I suppose a little bit of gentle noise reduction could help - I don't like to go iverboard with it though - it can look false and overprocessed.

Yeah the images are a bit noisey sadly, I was struggling a lot with light. This was probably the darkest rally i've been at all year I normally dont go above iso400 but I was starting the day off at iso1600 and rarely dropped much below it.

I have noise ninja just have never played around with it enough to get results I was happy with.

I was struggling most days with the light. The only 'good day' was Sunday when I managed to get close enough to the action so that I could use the wide angle zoom.

I was out on the friday but didnt have the camera with me, took the camera on saturday and the light was terrible then I didnt go out on the sunday cos I was feel terrible after standing in the rain on the saturday!

Saturday wasnt all that bad though. One of those shots where taken out the door of my friends house! A nice warm fire and a turkey dinner between stages.

Speaking as an E-1 user, something renowned for noise, I use NeatImage.
Seems to work just fine for me...
Oh, cracking shots BTW, and especially the one with the Tricolour.

3, 9 and 10 stand out for me. These are some of the best rally shots of seen in ages- are you pro?

Seriously consider it. These are as good as any rally photos i've seen. OK, i'm no expert, but get in touch with an agency or two.

Cracking photos 'mole2k' - did you get any of Roy White in the MG S2000 running at No 65?

I only got the one shot of Roy here its not a particularily good shot as it was taken with a 300mm + 2x teleconverter and then cropped a bit after that.

Many thanks for that 'mole2k' - much appreciated.

For some reason there doesn't seem to be that many of the MG from Ireland, don't know whether everyone was concentrating on the WRC cars instead?

I think it can be forgiven- after all, it is the first visit of wrc to ireland as a championship for aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages, if not the first time.

Everybody was to much in awe of the sound from the mg to be able to think clearly enough to press shutter

Agree totally. I saw it on the Plains Rally & Rally GB and the sound is just totally different to anything else on the stages - really cammy and revvy - if you know what I mean?

Those photographs are fantastic, you must be delighted with them. Number 7 is one of the best action shots I've seen of Rally Ireland... it must have been very hard to capture detail on the C4 with the headlights shining right at you. I don't think the noise takes anything away from the photograph, if anything it adds to the mood. And photos 2 and 5 are the sort of images I'd expect to see in the official event programme. Maybe you should get in touch with the team that are designing the 2009 programme and offer the use of your images! Just out of curiosity, what equipment did you use? And was your camera hand-held or tripod mounted? Well done again, very impressive work.
