How was the race?
Were Wirdheim and Sperafico involved in an accident? |

Friesacher and Bell (racing for 3rd) made contact at the first corner a few laps in. Pantano knocked his wing askew against van Hooydonk IIRC. |

Who would you blame for those two collisions? Or racing acccidents? Wirdheim's run of podium finishes is finished, but most of the main rivals didn't score well, so the damage to his championship isn't too great

only saw the first half but Wirdheim caught the back of Sperafico and Patrick I'm afraid to say moved over on Townsend when he could have given him room.

Bell has no claim to criticise when he entered the corner completely sideways

Pantano actually broke his wing at the pylon at the entrance of the Veedol chicane.

BobbyB thats like saying if the limit of braking for a corner is 200m, and i brake at 150m, that because i got to the mid corner first that ive successfully passed you, nevermind that im about half a second from landing upside down in the gravel.
Bell was not in control of his vehicle. Granted Freisacher probably could have given him room, but I dont blame him for assuming Bell would drive like a professional. |

Russ- we'll have to agree to disagree here. The commentators stated that Friesacher blew it. And Bell was NOT sideways.

I like the SV announcers, but the gospel of racing they are not. If anything they're more Bell-biased than ever since Montreal.
You didnt just give birth to Townsend's kid did you? |

Russfeld, Friesacher saw TB coming down the inside and turned in on him! He didnt give him racing room. Its as simple as that, and he came off worse. Bobby, not only did the USA commentators state that it was Friesacher that was in the wrong, the Eurosport commentators (Martin Haven) said so also. And judging by the replays its fair to say that Friesacher was the guy in the wrong I think.
Good result for Wirdheim, a seat in F1 next year perhaps? |

Saleen, it isn't simple. In my point of view (and seeing the race again), TB made a dive on Friesacher. There wasn't conditions to TB turn because when he break (if he did it) his front spoiler it was BEFORE the piano while Friesacher start to turn. Do you want to be simple or easy ? Try to see why TB fired himself on CART in 2002 in Cleveland. It was the same movie: there wasn't racing home in those occasion but he tried. He crashed just five cars.

Still at least he did'nt run into anyone and ruin his own race. Interestingly Hubbins I did think I saw a small baby playing a piano at the first corner but it may have been my altavista language translator playing up! |

I can't see how anyone can call 13th place a good result for Wirdheim, unless what you're getting at is that two of his closest championship rivals (Pantano and Sperafico) didn't score points either.
Toccacelo up to 2nd in the championship now, 10 points behind Wirdheim. Biggest surprise of the day was Derek Hill's 5th place finish. Credit where credit's due, he drove a good race. |
