Scott Speed on pole at Monza in Euro F.Renault

According to www.jmracing.com Ex-F3 driver Scott Speed absolutely dominated qualifying for round 1 & 2 at Monza in Euro Formula Renault. I always knew this kid was super fast. But, qualifying on pole by 8-tenths? Man, that's awesome!

Does anyone know anything about the rest of the field? I only recognize Amermuller from the factory Tony Kart team.

Elton,

Along with Speed's 2nd & 12th place(he had a drive-thru penalty in the second race), Colin Fleming (another former American karter) finished 16th & 5th and Dominique Claessens (also an American karter) was 24th and 9th out of 34 entries. Each of those drivers are part of the Red Bull drivers program. Also, in the Renault V6 race another American karter Dominic Cicero finished 10th out of 22. I wish we could get these races on TV here in the States.

It seems it rained before race one and everyone started on rains. Speed got past by Maldonado. In race 2 Speed tried to pass Maldonado coming out of the Parobolica after a yellow flag period, but he was judged to have made the pass before the green flag came out.

Are they allowed to have radios in F.Renault?

Not sure.

But when you've got teams taking FRenaults to wind tunnels and test rigs, I don't really think there would be a cost issue!
