Rod Birley.
I would be truly delighted indeed if someone on these wonderful forums could please forward onto me at the following e-mail address a contact address or alternate e-mail for the legend that is Mr. Rod Birley.
I'am a huge adoring fan of Rod's and think the guy is really awesome in that stunning Ford Escort Cosworth etc. It would be a privilege to correspond with Rod and also an honour indeed. Please if you know the details could you kindly forward them onto - markneeson02@hotmail.com This gesture is really honestly appreciated indeed and if I can return the favour in any way I certainly will of course. Please accept my regards in advance and sincerest thanks. Yours. Mark. |

I have to agree with you, the man is a legend!
Watching that car at Lydden yesterday, we all knew who had one the race before it started. |

It was a shame Peter Thurston didn't bring the Prelude, but hopefully there should be some more class A cars soon. Andy Wickens has just got his hands on a V8 Camaro, a V8 Sierra has recently emerged from H.T Racing's workshop, and Tony Ryan has a new Cosworth Sierra. Phil Usher will be racing his new Focus on July 17th at Lydden.
There is an open saloon team challenge event taking shape for Brands on July 24th should be lots of interesting quick machinery. |

That's why the escort is so damn quick.
It's powered by a giant Lop! Rob. |

I think you'll find that Rod is hoping to get a good entry with a race being fitted into the days timetable around the Britcar programme-a must for those saloon boys wishing for some good value (for a change!)Brands action!!

The idea is to have teams of five or six drivers depending on the number of classes (one member from each team in each class). So far the Castle Combe saloons have taken up the challenge, along with the BARC S/E mob. Fords and Alfas have expressed interest.

I great idea, but no doubt, it'll deplete the Formula Saloons at Pembury on the same weekend.
Too many good things going on at the same time, choices choices... decisions decisions... my minds made up though, I'm going to Pembury. Rob. |

Count me in. Probably the prelude but could be to test the escort if its finished in time as now very close and it will keep my sponsor happy as he finds the honda 'too boring'he says.Only I could find a sponsor who does not want me to win but to lay rubber everywhere!Pete.

Sounds good to me! I love that Escort and was gutted to see it on the flatbed at Brands Got a shot of it at Paddock - you can see the windscreen a few feet up in the air!

Hang on a mo! I dont find the Prelude boring, but Petes tried to sideways it and it wont go. Plus the Escort "sounds" right and creates loads of interest; which is what a sponsor wants isnt it? We get more feedback and business from racing the Escort than the Prelude, thats all. We are all working hard to get it back on track; its taken a lot of hammering, time, sweat and money to get where we are now. Another month or so should see it there. Am I right Pete? Yes, Im pushing him to do it! Sideways racing will return soon I hope. Dave
