F1 Challenge

In another thread, there was mention of F1C, and that it was very good. So I had a web search for info about it and discovered.. it's bloody expensive, and hard to get hold of ! Why so expensive?? And is it worth the cost?

It is really good, but it's looking a bit dated now. Amazon had a second hand copy for about £510, theres no way it's worth that much.

Best thing to do is check eBay or your local second hand games shop.

I believe most people want it because of the myriad of excellent mods available for it. As it's been discontinued and you can't buy it in the shops, an expensive second hand market seems to have emerged.

I'm sure if they released it on Platinum they would have a new generation of buyers, but whether they want to or can is another matter. With F1 being F1, then it wouldn't surprise me if there was some licensing issue preventing anyone from doing just that.

Just a note, I currently play F1 Challenge on PC and love it. I also pay out of my ass for the Xbox version and I can say that the console versions are a POS. Keep away if possible.

Now I'm having problem with the PC version though. Apparently there's a speed limiter, I think it's called RPM Limiter in controller settings, I can't seem to use it, doesn't appear to work - any ideas?

Also, in replays (not the replays during race - but saved replays) I can't seem to choose what type of "camera" I want, namely, "TV Broadcast" not "TV cockpit".

I was lent it by a friend and found a mod where you don't even need the disc to play it once its been installed. The game is amazing. Now onto the mods which are way better then the game...The Champ Car challenge mod 2000-2005 including classic CART cars from '93 etc and even classic Trans-Am its amazing...Then there's the F1-2005 mod and F1 turbo mod.........

Your limiter problem is the pits speed limit. "L" on the keyboard will turn it off.

Hey thanks but that wasn't the problem, I had problem turning it on. Figured it out though, I had "pit lane assist" on. Stupid I know .

Oh and the replay problem I got that too, Home, PgUp and PgDn changes the camera view.

500£ you are kidding me.

man, when i bought it i hated it, and took it back for a full refund, but at the same time kept it on my machine and later on got a crack so i could still play it hehe.

why did i not keep it? what a profit id have made.

and yes this game is awesome, even for its age.

F1C is worth owning purely for the mods available, especially if you're a sportscar fan as I don't see any Prototype C or SCC type mods on the horizon for any other game.

However, if your main reason for hunting down a copy is to race Formula One cars you would be better served buying rFactor and waiting for the F1 mods to appear (the CTDP one should be out in March).

Not quite the right era though Andy

I've given up on getting a copy of F1C. The sort of ridiculous price I might have to pay for it puts me off. I've no idea how well it'll run on my disappointing laptop either...

You can pick up a copy of F1C for little more than £20 if you keep an eye out for bargains on ebay.

I bought my copy for £10 6 months ago.
