2006: The good and the bad

Now that the 2006 season has closed, I would like all members to state their good points and bad points in 2006:

The pluses:

+ Bourdais: Unstoppable if whiny, Dominant if maybe not that much.
+ Allmendinger: Developed into a potential multi championship driver, only to go to NASCAR.
+ Power: Has made Tagliani look ordinary, especially on tracks he knew. Deserving Rookie Of The Year.
+ CTE-HVM Inc. : Most improved team, in my opinion. Let's wait and see how they go on in 2007...

The minuses:

- Tracy: One of his wildest seasons yet, outraced generally by AJ.
- PKV Racing: Stood still this year, and it was probably a surprise that they did not win.
- Junqueira: Subdued return, will he get another chance at Newman/Haas?
- Korea: Never put it again on the schedule...

Sounds like fun!

Pros:
- New chassis brings more competition/higher car count next year
- Nelson gets his first win
- Lots of great passing and overall great racing throughout the year
- Drama with Tracy kept races very exciting
- DCR not being a game of musical chairs this year
- CTE and Aussie teams were awesome

Cons:
- The thought that knowing either Bourdais or Allmendinger were going to be on the front row at every race.
- Complete domination by Bourdais, only finished off the podium 3 times this year.
- DEREK DALY
- Low car count/Low venue count
- I think PKV and Rocketsports werent as competitive as they should've been

+ AJ's breakthrough year, a new us-superstar born
- Losing AJ
+ The battle for the championship
+ Nelson Phillipe. 3 years ago he was fabio with money. He has shown he is one of the bests to have in your team: Talent and money.
+ Power, Ranger and Clarke. Young talented drivers who showed that cc is a serie where talent will get good results.
+ HVM & team Aussi: small teams can perform, great to see.
+ Legge surviving that horrible crash
+ The atlantic championship
+ New teams and events for 2007.

- Paul Tracy. Stupid crashes and massively outperformed by AJ. I really hope he is going to start performing again next year.
- Rocketsports
- Bruno. He just does not seem to be the same after his indy-crash
- CDM's accident
- Losing montreal, monterrey and milwaukee. No more ovals. a shame.

? K.Legge. Both her and Zwolsmans performance wasn't spectacular to say the least, especially compared to how rookies like clarke and power were performing. Legge has to improve next year or she'll be out of a ride in 2008.

? Next year. 3 new events in europe and china as well a street race in LV and the new chassis. CC's leaders have said for a couple of years now that international expansion and the new technical package would be the start of the upswing of cc. These elements have been put in place, now it's time to see if the upswing will indeed start.

The Good :

Some great races and racing.

New winners such as Nelson and AJ.

The return of Road America.

The Champ Car debut of Ryan Briscoe and Buddy Rice.

The Panoz DP 01 before launched and all the promise for next year.

Paul Tracy his character that is. We need guys like him in Motorsport.

New teams and drivers for next season.

Return to Europe for next season.

Bourdais' 4 in a row

AJ's 3 in a row

The bad :

PT's driving at times.

Bourdais' way of blaming the other drivers all the time.

The low car count. But that's the last we'll see of that.

The last ever oval race for now.

The rained delayed Montreal race not being shown on TV.

The commentary.

That's all I can think of at the moment...
