YingYang & Feral Park

Ying Yang

So named since 2 equal halves make the whole circuit.

The outer appearence is that it's quite square, yet manages to have 9 distinct corners that are replicated giving 18 in total.

I haven't given it a circuit length but the 4 long straights should be between 800m and 1km long.

Feral Park

So named because it's a bit on the wild side.

Most of the circuit is on level ground however the 2 infield sections drop down into a small bowl type feature climbing back up to the option perimeter circuit level. THe lowest points being at T10 and T14/15

Again no overall length, but the bottom straight is approximately 1.1kms makeing the whole thing overly long for modern F1 purposes

Comments, criticisms and possible edits welcome as always.

Symmetrical tracks are not really my cup of tea. With ying-yang you really feel it's a simple - yet good - track that you have to do twice.

The other one looks great though seems a bit too twisty even for my taste, tho i do like twisty ones, see my New Prague circuit that you yourself simplified
And, tho I'm going after my eye measure here, I'd say if the bottom straight is 1.1 km than the track might be a tad too long for an F1 track, wouldn't it?

But sure it looks great.

Shanghai has a long straight at about 1km, so does Fuji and so does Cataluna.

All three of those straights are well over 1km, as is the front straight at Bahrain & the run at Spa from La Source to Les Combes & at Indy throught the last corner to the first is closer to 2km, so 1km really isn't exceptional.

Sorry if my comment was open to misinterpretation...
I referred to the 1.1km straight on Feral Park as being a scale to the whole length of the track, and that at a rough guess of over 8kms (5 miles) being too long for F1.

Yes, I referred to the whole track as being maybe a bit too long for F1, not the straight. And I guess that's exactly what my sentence says

I like Feral Park but remove the elephant trunk to the east as you view it.

The concept of a track symmetrical as that one is a nice idea. Still, I'm sorry to say that I find the outcome to be somewhat boring.
Feral Park has got some very enjoyable corner shapes, but I think replacing the 2nd infield section and the hairpin at the bottom right of the track diagram with something reminiscent of Monza's Variante Ascari would both do the job of shortening the long straight a bit and would add to the excitement by introducing some fast corners.

OK, here's my edit for Feral Park.

Since there were two things with this track I didn't really like: lenght and twistiness, I basically did one thing: chipped the top section off. The track is still too long, about 7.4 km, but seems definitely less curvy.

I'd do a similar thing but use the top section and get rid of the elephant trunk. I'd probably straighten up the tun from that hairpin near the start/finish to that right hander. Too many esses.

I'm not sure how you could say that there are too many esses in that edit. If one set is too many then most tracks must have too many esses!

That's almost a mirror version of Jacarepaguá.

Well, there is a similarity, no doubt, but I think the nature of the corners is really different.
